Character Archetype: Choose Your Role in the World
Your archetype is your character’s foundational class—the core that determines your combat style, strengths, and available progression paths. Think of it as choosing your role in the party and your identity in the world of Eris.
There are two tiers of classes in Eris Online:
Base Class – Known as an Archetype, this is chosen during character creation.
Advanced Class – Unlocked later in the game through questing, leveling, and specialization.
The Four Base Archetypes:

Fighter
Strong, durable, and always on the front lines. Fighters excel in melee combat and can take a lot of punishment. If you enjoy tanking, brawling, or leading the charge, this is the archetype for you.

Healer
Masters of restoration and support. Healers are essential to group survival, offering powerful healing, buffs, and crowd control. Ideal for players who enjoy teamwork, strategy, and saving lives under pressure.

Mage
Fragile but powerful, Mages wield elemental and arcane forces to devastate enemies from a distance. If you love high-damage spells, battlefield control, and magical experimentation, Mages are your go-to.

Rogue
Agile, cunning, and stealthy. Rogues thrive on speed, critical strikes, and deception. Perfect for players who enjoy hit-and-run tactics, solo play, or outsmarting their enemies.
Pro Tip: Each archetype can feel very different depending on the traits you select and the path you follow later. Pick an archetype that matches both your combat preference and the kind of fantasy character you want to become.
Advanced Class System
As you level up, your archetype can be promoted into a variety of advanced classes. Some advanced classes are shared across archetypes—but how you play them will vary greatly depending on where you started.
For example: A Fighter and a Healer might both become a Templar, but the Fighter might focus on melee smiting, while the Healer version emphasizes defensive auras and healing spells.
This flexibility allows for deep character customization and ensures your class evolves with your playstyle.
Character Traits: Build Your Identity
Traits are one of the most powerful ways to define your character’s uniqueness. While archetype determines your general role, traits let you fine-tune your character’s strengths, weaknesses, and specialties.
There are over 100 traits planned, and each one provides a bonus—but also costs attribute points to select. This creates a meaningful trade-off and encourages smart character planning.
What Can Traits Do?
Traits can:
Boost specific attributes (e.g., Strength, Intelligence, Agility)
Improve weapon or skill proficiencies
Add passive bonuses (e.g., faster health regeneration, increased critical hit chance)
Unlock racial or class-based synergies
- Stupid: You lose intelligence but gain additional attribute points to allocate elsewhere.
- Northerner: You are better adapted to cold climates, gaining +5% cold resistance.
- Pikeman: You have increased proficiency with polearm-type weapons.
- Slave: You have improved piercing and slashing abilities.
Designing Your Build
Choosing traits is about building a character that feels like your own. Do you want to be a sneaky rogue with a hidden magic talent? A tough healer who can tank? A fast-hitting warrior who trades defense for speed?
Traits make these hybrid and specialized builds possible.
Pro Tip: You can’t take every trait. Think carefully about how each one fits into your overall build. Traits that complement your archetype will feel stronger, but sometimes choosing a flavorful weakness can make your character more fun and distinct.
Important Reminder
Your archetype and traits are permanent, so take your time to read through the options. There’s no respec system (yet), and your choices will shape your story, strengths, and progression in Eris Online.
